    I probably get more questions that start with “Does Medicare cover…?” than anything else.  Here is a list of the most common categories with short answers for each.

    MORE MEDICARE INFORMATION

    As always, you need to know what kind of Medicare coverage you have.  There are caveats, co-payments, and conditions for almost every kind of coverage. Review your own policy, call 1-800-MEDICARE,  or research online at MEDICARE.GOV.

    Medicare Advantage (or Part C) may offer services not covered by Original Medicare (Parts A and B).  Prescription drugs and some vaccines are covered by Part D, which must be selected and paid for separately.

    MEDICARE COVERAGE ANSWERS

    Does Medicare cover Alzheimer’s care? NO

    Does Medicare cover ambulance service? YES, PART B

    Limited. Only if transportation in any other vehicle would endanger your health. Does not pay for ambulance doctor’s office.

    Does Medicare cover assisted living? NO

    Does Medicare cover bariatric surgery?  YES, PART A and PART B

    Does Medicare cover breast reduction? YES, PART A and PART B

    Does Medicare cover cataract surgery? YES,  PART A and PART B

    Does Medicare cover chiropractic care?  YES,  PART B (limited)

    Does Medicare cover custodial care?  NO

    Medicare does cover limited skilled nursing facility care under certain conditions.

    Does Medicare cover dental services?  NO

    Does Medicare cover dental implants? NO

    Does Medicare cover diabetic supplies? YES, PART B and PART D

    Does Medicare cover gastric bypass surgery? YES, PART A and PART B

    Does medicare pay for hospice? YES, PART A

    Does Medicare cover hospital beds? YES, PART B

    A Certificate of Medical Necessity must be completed, signed, and dated by the treating doctor.

    Does Medicare cover incontinence supplies? NO

    Does Medicare cover lap band surgery?  YES, PART A and PART B

    Does Medicare cover lift chairs? YES, PART B

    Does Medicare cover long-term care? NO

    Does Medicare cover oral surgery? NO

    Does Medicare cover patient lifts? YES, PART B

    Does Medicare cover yearly Wellness visit? YES, PART B

    “Welcome to Medicare” visit during first year, then, one Wellness visit every 12 months.

    WASHINGTON, DC - JULY 27:  Medicare receipents...Does Medicare cover root canals?

    Does Medicare cover shingles vaccine? YES, PART D

    Does Medicare cover stair lifts? NO

    Does Medicare cover routine transportation? NO

    Does Medicare cover routine vaccinations? YES.  PART B

    Flu, pneumonia, and hepatitis vaccinations are offered through Part B.  Others may be covered through Part D.

    Does Medicare cover routine vision care? NO

    Does Medicare cover scooters and walkers? YES, PART B
