Universal Design is a collection of ideas and designs for the development of buildings, environments, and products  accessible to those with and without disabilities.
    REHABBING OLD HOUSES.
Before I became interested in old people, I was interested in old houses.  I learned about Universal Design as a real estate investor.   I bought properties at the bottom of the market, lived in them,  fixed them up over time, and sold them when the market rose or I could make a decent… More

RESEARCH ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES WITH GOOGLE

LOOK BEYOND THE THE PRETTY SETTING
I like the attached video because it shows you step-by-step how to use Google to research assisted living facilities for citations, violations, and inspection reports while sparing you from an infomercial.  While we tend to notice food, amenities, location, and services when we check out assisted living facilities, it is equally important to check out how the facility is rated by the state.

    WHAT IS A GROUP HOME?

A Group Home is a private residence for unrelated persons living in a family or community setting, generally with the aid of a caregiver.

WHAT IS AN INTERMEDIATE CARE FACILITY?

This video is a San Diego, CA, television news report about a local free service that helps individuals and families select a suitable intermediate care facility. While it is a bit of an infomercial, it also does a good job of explaining what an intermediate care facility offers.… More
