Be aware that www.MyMedicare.com is not the same as www.MyMedicare.gov. Both sites can be useful, but make sure you know the difference.
www.MyMedicare.com
MyMedicare.com (also, www.My Medicare.com) is a private site that provides visitors with information regarding medicare plans, medicare eligibility, and other resources pertaining to medicare. One of the primary purposes of the site is to allow users to find providers within their zip code–in other words it helps insurance providers obtain customers.
While this site holds a great deal of useful, unbiased information about Medicare, most of its sections have not been updated since 2010. If you are searching for a local provider of Medicare coverage, it may prove a useful tool. Just be aware that the resulting list of providers probably pay to be listed on the site. They may be excellent providers, but the list is most likely incomplete.
www.MyMedicare.gov
MyMedicare.gov (also, www.my medicare.gov) is the “Official U.S.Government Site for Medicare.” MyMedicare.com is a valid site for learning about Medicare, but make sure you also check MyMedicare.gov to insure you have the most recent information.
MyMedicare.gov is part of the Medicare.gov web site and is updated whenever a change is made to Medicare. It is an optional, free, and secure site designed to help check the status of eligibility, enrollment, and other Medicare benefits. It also allows users to access their claims information almost immediately after it is processed by Medicare and provides you with preventive health information 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Can you tell me if Medicare covers at least part of a shingles shot?? I think the shot at Safeway pharmacy is a little over $200 & I was told by someone that part of it was covered by Medicare but yesterday the Pharmacist said I had to ask Medicare. I thought he should know but I guess he doesn’t. Thanks, Marie Straub
Hi Marie: Good question. Thanks for asking. I called 1-800-Medicare and was put on hold for about 5 minutes. I was concerned they would not answer my questions since I do not have a Medicare number yet (seven years to go). But the very nice person who spoke to me told me that the shingles vaccine is NOT covered by Medicare Part B. It is covered by most Medicare Drug Plans (Medicare Part D).
You might have a separate Medicare Part D Plan. Medicare Part D drug plans are managed by private providers only. If you have an Advantage Plan you have Part D. The only way to know for sure is to call your provider for Medicare Part D. If you don’t have a drug plan, you will have to pay out of pocket. If you learn anything else that can be added for others to use, please add it to this Comments section.
